This is edited version of a recording of the webinar, in which I shared the types of silks I love using in wet felting — especially in rose-making.
I talked about their different characteristics so that you can find what suits your own work. I also offered ideas for sourcing silk and fabrics – main point I would say go local — from Etsy and eBay, to bridal and fabric shops, charity shops, sari silk scarves, and even tailor’s offcuts or craft fair finds. You never know where a perfect piece might turn up!
We also touched on what to look for in fabrics for nuno felting, including my go-to tip: the simple “blowing test” to check breathability. These small checks can save a lot of frustration later on.
I also talk very briefly about two my workshops in which you can learn how to make roses and more.
